On Wednesday, the dates for the first round of the new 12-game college football playoff were announced. The first game starts on Dec. 20 at 8pmET and there will be three games on Dec. 21. The first round will be played at campus sites.
The top four seeds will receive a first-round bye and will play in the quarterfinals against the winners of the first-round games at the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31 at 7:30pmET, the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1 at 1pmET, the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 at 5pmET and the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 at 8:45pmeT. The winners will play in the semifinals on Jan. 9 at the Orange Bowl and Jan. 10 at the Cotton Bowl. Both games will be played at 7:30pmET. The CFP Championship Game will be played on Monday, Jan. 20 at 7:30pmET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Yes, the SEC will get at least three teams in the playoffs. Joe Milton is gone but enter freshman QB Nico Iamaleava, another five-star recruit, who ran for three TDs against an elite Iowa defense in the Citrus Bowl. The talent at wide receiver is outstanding led by junior Squirrel White (67 catches for 803 yards).
