The DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Europe playoffs begins Monday, June 8th, and the inaugural battle will be a good one between Complexity and Fnatic. The playoffs feature the 12 teams who advanced from the group stage. These teams are seeded according to group finish, and are playing in a double-elimination bracket. All games are scheduled as a best-of-three-map matches with the exception of the Grand Final. The Grand Final will be a best-of-five-map match with the unbeaten team holding a one map advantage at the start.

Complexity Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 17th

Complexity's strong performance early during the group stage was enough to see them through. The opened up with 2-0 dominations of Mousesports and MAD Lions in the first two days before falling to BIG by a score of 2-1 in their last game of the stage. Complexity is a tough team on any map, and this has led to much of their recent success. In fact, Complexity has no win rates lower than 58.3% on any map and this is not a very common thing amongst top teams.

The driving force behind Complexity is blameF and k0nfig. These two players have been solid over the past three months with an average of 1.55 kills per round while only dying 1.22 times a round. Another key point is that none of the other three players will hinder the team much, if at all. The key for Complexity to find their way to victory is to not get too ahead of themselves. Fnatic is one of the world's best teams, but Complexity's players have to remember that they are too.

Fnatic Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 3rd

The Swedish Fnatic squad is one of the top teams in the world, and you can't let their group stage results sway you. Fnatic squeezed through with a 1-2 record in a tough group that also featured FaZe Clan and Team Spirit. This team has always been so much better at best-of-three-map matches though as opposed to the single game matches. Mirage and Vertigo are disavantages to them as their win rates are right at 35% on these maps the last three months.

Fnatic is such a high ranked team partially because they don't have many holes. Golden is arguably their worst player and his kill to death rato isn't terribly far in the negative. Brollan and flusha have been known to lead the team to victory, but JW and KRIMZ are no slouches on their end either. Fnatic will need another solid team effort if they play on bringing home a victory here. As long as the team uses their higher level of experience to their advantage, they should be fine.

Pick: Complexity ML (+155 @ Bovada)(2 units)

I smell an upset brewing here. Fnatic is no doubt one of the best teams in the world, but they haven't been playing like it lately. Meanwhile Complexity has been on the rise and will continue to come up the HLTV world CS:GO rankings. There isn't any map that is used for competition that Complexity won't be competitive on, and given their current form I can't pass their pricing up. I have a feeling Complexity's stronger map pool will be the difference maker, so I'm playing Complexity for two units.
