Dallas Cowboy's QB Dak Prescott To Sign Exclusive Franchise Tender

Dallas Cowboy's QB Dak Prescott To Sign Exclusive Franchise Tender

The Dallas Cowboys have been discussing signing Dak Prescott to a longterm contract for a few months and it looks as if they are one step closer to doing so. On Sunday, it was reported by Adam Schefter (ESPN) that Dak Prescott would be signing a 31.4 million dollar exclusive franchise tender with the team on Monday. Now, once he signs the tender, Dak would be obligated to report to training camp, whether or not a long term deal has been reached.

Speaking of that long term deal, the two sides now have until July 15th to work one out. The Cowboys have made it clear that Prescott is in their plans for the future and they are hoping to get a deal done. Dak has expressed that he is looking for a big contract like that of Russell Wilson, who makes 35 million a year for the seahawks or Ben Roethlisberger, who is making 34 million a year for the Steelers.

Is Prescott worth a huge contract? I feel that he is, esp[ecially since this could be his biggest year yet. That is saying something as Prescott threw for 4902 yards with 30 TDs and 11 INTs a season ago. Dak has two of the best receivers in the game in Michael Gallup and Amari Cooper, who both had 1000 yards receiving last year, plus they have added Ceedee Lamb in the first round of the draft. Dallas was already 2nd in the league in passing a season ago and they could be first this year.

In his first four years in the league, Prescott has accumulated 15,778 yards passing, with 97 TDs and 36 INTs while also rushing for 1121 yards and 21 TDs. He has compiled a very solid passer rating of 97.0 in his first four years. Russell Wilson threw for 13, 974 yards with 100 TDs and 34 INTs in his first four years while Big Ben threw for 1163 yards with 84 TDs and 54 INTs in his first four years in the league.

Dak Prescott is clearly one of the best quarterbacks in the league and the feeling here is that he should be paid like one. He will take the next step on his journey to doing so when he signs that exclusive franchise tender on Monday.
