The eight teams are divided into two groups of four teams each. The teams will play best-of-three matches against each other and the group’s winners will move to the upper bracket of the playoffs. The second and third-placed teams in each group move to the lower bracket of the tournament. The playoffs feature a double elimination bracket with the grand finals being a best-of-five affair.

Evil Geniuses opening match against Cloud9 resulted in a 1-2 loss for the North American team. The former number one team in the world is no longer at the forefront of the CS:GO scene and its players don’t have the same firepower as they did in 2019. Evil Geniuses’ map pool has shrunk significantly since their peak in 2019 also.
Meanwhile, the Daps-led Gen.G CS:GO roster has shown steady improvements in the past few weeks. Popular for helping several teams improve their HLTV rankings, Daps is one of the most popular North American in-game leaders. He helped NRG rise to the top of the scene in 2019 and when the players joined Evil Geniuses (with Stanislaw), they quickly rose to prominence.
This match will almost be a competition between Daps and Stanislaw. The two in-game leaders have a strong presence over their respective teammates. Daps has a great understanding of his former teammates’ preferences and playstyles. His understanding and familiarity of his former teammates’ players will be crucial in helping Gen.G put up a strong show in this match.
