G2 Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 2nd

The French powerhouse of G2 is one of the more quiet teams despite being one of the best. They've been absolutely outstanding over the last three months with a win rate of 57.1%. Their only three losses since the beginning of May were to Mousesports, FaZe Clan and North, all of which are top tier teams. G2's diverse map pool has been one reason of their success. In fact, they have a 71.4% win rate on Mirage followed by a 60% win rate on the maps Nuke, Vertigo and Inferno.

It's difficult to name a statistical team leader of G2 as their roster has several leading players. The duo of kennyS and huNter- are a deadly combination and have been the will of much of the team's success. These two have averaged 1.46 kills per round while only dying 1.27 times a round the last three months. Their third best would most likely be nexa with his 0.67 kills to 0.63 deaths per round ratio during this same period. G2 can beat any team in the world and they know it. This is a game that they can win, they just have to take things slowly and play strategically.

Natus Vincere Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 1st

The Russian squad of Natus Vincere has finally retaken the top ranking in the world, and they fully deserve it given their long-term success. The team has an absolutely outstanding 60% win rate over the last three months including a first place finish in the Gamers Without Borders CS:GO tournament during this time. Natus Vincere is a team that you don't want to face on the maps Overpass and Dust2. They hold a 66.7% win rate on the map Overpass with a 61.5% win rate on Dust2.

Much of Natus Vincere's success can be attributed to the play of s1mple. This player has an outstanding average of 0.87 kills per round while only dying 0.59 times a round. His counterpart electronic has been no slouch either for Natus Vincere. He's averaged 0.71 kills a round while dying 0.65 times per round. Perfecto and flamie can be a hinderance to the team from time to time which has come back to haunt them before. The duo only averaged 1.11 kills per round while dying 1.31 times a round. Natus Vincere can win this match, they just need to stick to what got them this far.

Pick: G2 ML (+110 @ Bovada)

I'm expecting an upset in this battle between the world's top two ranked teams. An issue for Natus Vincere has been the play of Perfecto and flamie who have been known to hinder the team from time to time. G2 is not a team that you can have many holes against, and although s1mple can carry Natus Vincere to victory almost single-handedly, I fully expect G2 to exploit the weaknesses of Perfecto and flamie. I personally believe that G2 is much more deserving of the number one ranking, and I expect them to prove this with a win over Natus Vincere in this contest.
