2024-25 NBA Preseason Injuries and Notes
2024-25 NBA Preseason Injuries
I don’t advise people to bet preseason but it’s important to pay attention to what’s going on in the NBA in terms of injuries and other issues. Let’s go through some bullet points of some preseason talk.
*Joel Embiid is healthy and lost 25-30 pounds in the offseason, which is great. He also told ESPN that he’s probably not going to play back-to-backs for the rest of his career.
*More news for the Sixers. Newly acquired All-Star forward Paul George injured his knee a few days ago and it deemed ok on Tuesday. So, just a bruise for the injury-prone 6-8 forward, who will miss the rest of the preseason and might miss a few games in the regular season, depending on an evaluation next week.
*Can you believe Lonzo Ball is 26-year old? The Chicago point guard has been dealing with multiple knee surgeries and finally expected to make his debut in the preseason on Wednesday for the Bulls. He has missed two straight NBA seasons.
*Rob Dillingham, the rookie guard from Kentucky, might be able to help right away. In his first preseason game for Minnesota, he poured in 21 points. In his second game against the Knicks, Dillingham scored just two points on 1-of-9 shooting in 19 minutes. Welcome to the NBA.
*On Monday, 7-4 rookie Zach Edey scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench in 19 minutes for Memphis.
*On Monday, 6-9 rookie Zaccharie Risacher, the top pick in the draft, scored 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting with eight rebounds. In his first game, he put up 18 points in 23 minutes on 7-of-9 shooting (3-of-4 3pt).
*Washington has played four preseason games already. Second-overall pick Alex Sarr has played in three of them. He’s averaging 11.3 points and 5.2 rebounds on 7-of-13 from long range. That’s a big change for the 7-1 big man from France, who had a dismal Summer League performance from long distance and overall.
