BIG Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 24th

The German squad of BIG enters riding a ton of momentum despite falling in the rankings some from their peak of 16th at the beginning of May. They have dominated the lower tiers in recent months with a beautiful 73.7% win rate over the last three months. Part of their success can easily be contributed to their diversity in their map pool. In fact, BIG's lowest win rate on any map is 55.6% on Inferno, and they have win rates no lower than 64.3% elsewhere.

BIG's recent dominance has come on the shoulders of the trio of syrsoN, tabseN and XANTARES. These guys have been absolutely solid over the last three months with an average of 2.26 kills per round while dying only 1.87 times a round. The other two haven't been terrible in their own right with kill to death ratios of right around even. BIG can compete with FaZe Clan, they just have to be careful not to count themselves out from the start as that can prove deadly to a team.

FaZe Clan Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 7th

The mixed-bag roster of FaZe Clan has established itself as one of the long-running top teams in the world. They too have been incredible over the last three months with a 65.4% win rate. Something that really stands out for FaZe Clan is the fact that they have a win rate no lower than 50% on any map. They also have a 100% win rate on Vertigo, 90% on Mirage and 75% on Dust2 which means that FaZe Clan will be a tough outing on any map in the game.

The driving force behind FaZe Clan has been the solid play of NiKo and coldzera. These two have averaged 1.5 kills per round the past three months while dying only 1.29 times a round. Their counterpart broky has been good also with an average of 0.66 kills per round and only 0.56 deaths a round. FaZe Clan has been known to make fairly easy work in contests such as these in which they are taking on lower ranking competition. They just have to be cautious about getting too cocky because BIG has the potential to take down any team.

Pick: Over 2.5 Rounds (+100 @ Bovada)

I do believe that FaZe Clan is the better team of these two and I expect them to win, but I'm not interested in laying a -225 juice. However, I do expect BIG to be super competitive and I also expect them to take one map. Both of these team have been absolutely outstanding recently, and this momentum should especially benefit BIG who is more or less the "unknown" team in this tournament. FaZe Clan has been known to struggle to close out matches with a 2-0 score, and I don't believe they can blank BIG either given how good they are across the maps themselves. Give me the over on this battle at even money as I expect it to take three maps to decide.
