UFC 269: Oliveira vs Poirier - Card Preview - 12/11/21

We are back at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas this Saturday for a great PPV lineup. Two belts are on the line in this one. Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira looks to defend his lightweight title against Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier in the main event. In the co-main we get to see the P4P female GOAT, Amanda Nunes take on Julianna Peña in women’s bantamweight action.

The lightweight division continues to be must-see action and this matchup will be no different. Oliveira holds the record for most submission victories in the UFC but he’s also not afraid to throw hands as evident of his 9 knockout victories. Even the most casual fan probably recognizes Dustin Poirier now from his Conor McGregor trilogy. He truly is an elite fighter and as tough as they come. The southpaw from Louisiana has scored 14 wins by knockout and 7 more by submission.

Amanda Nunes will be a monster favorite for her fight against Pena. Much like Shevchenko in the flyweight division, Nunes has outclassed all opposition as she's cleared out the division. The main difference between the two is Nunes actually holds two titles currently. Pena, a former TUF tournament winner, has had some solid success in the UFC, winning 6 out of 8 fights. Her only losses coming to solid opposition in the aforementioned Valentina Shevchenko and Germaine De Randamie.

These two bouts could sell the PPV handedly but lucky for us, the rest of the card is also stacked up nicely. We have former champs, big personalities, hype trains, ranked fighters, and high action fighters. Highly recommend tuning in as this will be the last big card for a while.

Ever since renting my first UFC VHS at my local video store, I’ve been in love with the sport of MMA. I’ve watched every single fight that has ever taken place under the UFC banner over the past 25 years. Once I started doing incredibly well in fantasy leagues, I realized I could utilize my skills in fight analytics to make a profit on betting. My obsession with researching every aspect of a fight gave me a real edge in finding value. Since then, it's been one profitable year after the next. Watching your favorite sport is good, but getting paid while watching your favorite sport is better.
